07 Oct Drawing & Business: using drawing in the workplace to get things off your chest
Founded in 2004, Dessin & Entreprise helps companies manage change and transition using an innovative method based on drawing. An update from Hélène-Laurie De Belloy, founder of Dessin & Entreprise.
How did you come up with the idea of creating Dessin & Entreprise?
My professional experience in an international company has shown me that what is left unsaid generates emotions. These emotions produce frustrations and behaviours that sometimes affect the company’s performance. With this in mind, I created the HLDB (High Level of Drawing for Behavior) method, based on behavioural and systemic theory, and its digital tool, CLIMAFUN.

Can you tell us about the HLDB method?
Our method is based on drawing as a means of expressing emotions and removing the unspoken in order to acquire new behavioural skills. Used as a transitional tool, drawing allows us to tackle serious subjects in a more light-hearted way and to get to the heart of the matter, but not head-on.
We have created CLIMAFUN. This simple, quick and fun questionnaire can be used to diagnose a team’s mood, based on employees’ feelings, in order to assess their level of well-being. Anonymous, it encourages authenticity and removes the fear of being stigmatised. It’s a pretext for talking about the unspoken, the unspeakable in the company, which often generates lasting blockages.
How do you work with companies?
We work with companies of all sizes that want to develop the individual and collective management skills of their teams. When we get involved, we start with an assessment of the team’s mood with CLIMAFUN, who will give us a diagnosis to identify the actions, which need to be taken. Once the mood trends have been highlighted, we can intervene to improve well-being at work, in particular through coaching or HLDB training.
In what areas do you support them?
Mainly on HR issues, to work on leadership, stress management, motivation and cohesion. For example, we work on staff turnover and absenteeism: we implement levers to avoid demotivation take preventive action. At the same time, we work on transformations by tackling issues related to teleworking, the feeling of belonging, the employer brand and corporate culture.
The current period generates unspoken issues that need to be expressed in order to be overcome. Drawing makes a highly valuable contribution!
